Equi-Ping allows handlers to safely tether their horse whilst at home or to a trailer/horsebox when away from the yard.

Under normal circumstances the Equi-Ping keeps the horse tethered safely and only comes into play if the horse panics for some reason and pulls back sharply.

Equi-Ping is designed to ‘ping’ open at this point helping to minimise potentially serious injuries if the horse continues to struggle. The unique design has been robustly tested in a professional racing yard to ensure its reliability and effectiveness.

This stable equipment product comes in a range of colours and is a must have piece of safety kit. It’s safer than string, time after time.

BETA 2011

The Story Of The Equi-Ping

Equi-Ping is the brainchild of husband and wife team Martin and Michelle Smith who are both professional horsemen working in the horseracing industry. Equi-Ping was launched in 2011 winning a prestigious highly commended award for innovation from BETA the UK’s leading equestrian trade show. The judges said “we liked the way that the tension could be varied and the fact that it could be reused. This is a small device that could have a big impact on safety and security when tying up horses and ponies.”

Martin and Michelle Smith run their own horseracing yard in Newmarket. Martin was born into racing – his father is a trainer and his brother is a jockey. Martin rode in his first apprentice race at the age of 14 and has worked for some of the top racing yards in the country gaining a wealth of experience in horsemanship. Like her husband, Michelle grew up in the horseracing industry working alongside her parents for some of the biggest names in UK racing.  Although specialising in the racing industry, Michelle has successfully competed in a range of equestrian events from pony club to affiliated show-jumping.

The concept for Equi-Ping came to Martin during many hours spent in the saddle walking racehorses to and from the gallops in between their work exercise. For years he and Michelle knew that there must be a safer and better way to securely tie horses up rather than using baling twine. Equi-Ping is the product of this initial idea which has been researched, designed, developed, tested and is now available to purchase.
